Until recently in Victoria, early childhood education was the responsibility of the Department of Human Services. The Victorian government recently established the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) and transferred responsibility for early childhood services to the new "Super Department".
DEECD is currently holding initial discussions with the various stakeholders regarding the "integration " of early childhood services (including preschools) within the new Department. Areas to be addressed include: communication, consultation, policy, curriculum, programs, funding, personnel and facilities.
Input regarding the scope of the work and specific elements is sought.
